New Dawn is a passion project that captures the spirit of Ultima Online's golden T2A/UOR era. The goal isn't perfect historical accuracy. Instead, we try to preserve what made those early days unforgettable while adding in thoughtful improvements drawn from years of UO expertise and modern gaming insights.

Veterans will recognize the familiar rhythms of classic UO, but with enough fresh ideas to make it feel new and alive again. If you're new to this era, expect a world where you forge your own path, not just chase quest markers and level caps.

We try to find the sweet spot between tradition and evolution. More authentic than contemporary shards, yet more polished than a rigid time capsule. Best of all, New Dawn is completely free-to-play with zero pay-to-win mechanics. Just pure Ultima Online as it was meant to be experienced.

Ultima Online launched in 1997 as one of the first MMORPGs. It's a medieval fantasy game where you can create characters, explore the world, fight monsters, craft items, build houses, and interact with thousands of other players. Unlike modern MMOs, UO gives you real freedom to play how you want.

With so many UO shards out there, it's a fair question.

New Dawn isn't built on the premise that we've cracked some code no one else has. The truth is, after all these years, many major innovations in UO have already been explored. What distinguishes shards today comes down to execution: the care put into the details, the thoughtfulness behind design choices, the coherence of the world being built.

New Dawn operates on a different philosophy. This isn't a game-as-a-service pumping out content drops to keep you hooked.

Will there be patches, fixes, new items, even larger events? Yes. But the focus is on building a sandbox world rooted in the T2A and Renaissance spirit, where the content comes from you: your stories, your rivalries, your guilds, your economy, your player-run events.

Create Your Free Account

Visit our game portal to register for a New Dawn account (requires a verified Discord account). This will be your gateway to the world of New Dawn. Registration takes just a minute and is completely free.

Download and Install

Once logged in, you'll find our Getting Started Guide in the account portal, with instructions for downloading the client, our policies and terms of service, and creating your character.

Join Our Discord Community

Connect with the community on Discord to get the latest announcements, ask questions, and meet other players. While a Discord account is required for registration, participation in the Discord server is optional but highly encouraged.
